Our focus is working on small projects that can range between 50 and 250 hours of developer time which can span over 1 ½ months to 8 months depending on our current project workload. We charge $60/hour for small projects that fit within the scope of our expertise. Do you have a larger project? We can break it down into smaller manageable portions and deploy your vision over a longer period of time.

What kind of projects?

We have worked with nonprofits and small businesses with various needs.

1. It could be that there is an off-the shelf product that serves your business, but the annual licensing costs are too much in the long run and many of the features are unnecessary. At the same time, working on paper and spreadsheets is too unwieldy. A custom software solution can pay for itself in licensing savings and productivity improvements over a couple of years.

2. Perhaps your business relies on proprietary spreadsheets and forms and every time you give your customers access to these you run the risk of losing control over your tools. A web based application is a great way to give customers access to tools while keeping your business logic proprietary.

3. Or maybe you’re worried about your tools’ ability to scale? Moving paperwork or spreadsheet logic into a web based application that is backed by a database engine with forms that are tailored for productivity can allow you to more efficiently work with customers or projects. Database web applications can fairly reliably scale to a hundred simultaneous users without committing significant computing resources. They can be made to scale to thousands of simultaneous users with cloud services.

4. Businesses often have information stored in multiple systems that don’t have a way of communicating. We have experience creating tools to integrate data from different systems as long as those systems provide access to the backend data, often through an application programming interface. We have some experience with a Salesforce product, custom xml web APIs, Quickbooks and various database engines.

5. Do you have an existing piece of custom software that you need updated? If the software fits within our experience, you can expect a reasonable prediction of how much it will cost for us to do the work.

What kinds of technologies?

Most of our modern projects are web based applications that use the Django application framework but using Flutter to create a modern user interface using Postgresql for the backend database. Most of our products are deployed using Docker containers for consistency across environments which include physical servers and cloud hosted virtual machines.

Flutter gives us the ability to deploy user interfaces for multiple platforms including the web, Apple App Store and Google Play.

We also have considerable experience developing with Delphi and the Firebird database engine for Windows desktop applications.
